2016 antarctica
At the end of 2016 I made an amazing trip to the Antarctics. It was a spur of the moment kind of thing. Somebody cancelled a Squiver photo tour, led by Dutch professional photographer Marsel van Oosten en his wife Daniella. They were looking for someone to fill the open space and I happened to be dreaming about this destination for quite a while. So I decided to go, and boy oh boy! - I don't regret this decision one bit. As a matter of fact, the places we visited were so stunning, they got me completely hooked. We embarked in Montevideo, Uruguay and sailed to South Georgia in about 5 days. In South Georgia we saw huge amounts of King penguins, Southern elephant seals and Fur seals. Then we sailed to the Antarctic Peninsula, breeding ground to large numbers of Adelie and Chinstrap penguins. From our ship and during zodiac tours we saw magnificent sceneries with icebergs and glaciers. We learned about different kinds of ice and saw the stunning blue colors they can have. After our 16 days journey we disembarked in Ushuaia, back into the inhabited world. Here's a selection of photos I took on this trip.
